I have an unusual suggestion for a playable character, what about Hua Tuo the amazing doctor from the Three Kingdoms period?
Bear with me here, but while I was defending He Fei castle on DW3XL on very hard I noticed with horror that once again my commanding officer Sima Yi had taken it apon himself to join the front lines and fight alongside me.(points for bravery and showing the men he cares, points off for crass stupidity and wasteing my time now protecting him.)
Worse yet he was very low on life and was not taking anymore healing charge ups, only armour and attack ups, (be worried when you see your commander behaving that way, he's near death usually) I was at full health and had a few meat buns lying around nearby then I thought why cant I heal the idiot? Throw him a meat bun? Thats when the story of Hua Tuo came to mind.
Hua Tuo was an great healer around the Three Kingdoms period, Hua Tuo studied diligently from the beginning. He valued actual clinical practice and eventually became a legendary doctor in the Eastern Han Dynasty. Even after he earned a hard-won a reputation as a medical doctor, Hua Tuo was never partial to any patient. He would provide his services wherever he went. He displayed a noble spirit by curing diseases and saving lives. He practiced medicine all his life. He developed innovative medical theories and excellent medical techniques in various medical fields, including external medicine, internal medicine, gynecology, acupuncture, parasitology, and physical therapy as medical treatment. He was an outstanding medical expert in ancient China. Hua Tuo was especially good at performing surgery. In fact, he was the first doctor who performed a colostomy in Chinese medical history. In order to reduce the pain of surgery for patients, he invented a drug, Ma Fei San, which was used to provide general anesthesia. It was not until 1,600 years later that Europeans began to use general anesthesia in surgery, at the beginning of the 19th century.
Ok history lesson over, but imagine this a character whos fairly weak in combat like Zhuge Liang or Sima Yi but his musou or six hit combo is a healing field around him, like the 'Death effect' in DW3 only in reverse here, instead of killing all foes around you instead you heal a bit all allies around you think of the effect this would have on troop morale, you could save important officers and bring about a true total army victory!
Now I realise not many people would be thrilled playing a whimpy character that just heals allies but you add combos to him that make him stun foes alot, (like how Diao Chan used to be in DW2) or perhaps even acupuncture could be used as a weapon, hurling many long thin blades as an attack.
Oh and also this healing effect would only work on your allies, not you. It would be too easy to dispose of meat buns altogether if you could heal yourself, I actually think this could be a pretty interesting character to play, and definately a change from the rather dull beat them up warriors with a long stick we see done so much in Dynasty Warrior games.
