With all the talk over Samurai Warriors I thought it might be relevant to ask just what did happen to the 'Kessen' series. The first Kessen was set in the era in Japanese history very close to the period that Samurai Warriors will cover. Who remembers this underated launch game for the PS2? kongming.net/kessen/i/fmv2.jpg[/img]kongming.net/kessen/i/fmv9.jpg[/img]kongming.net/kessen/i/fmv7.jpg[/img]Perhaps these femme fatale ninja girls will jog your memory, as I remember the 'ninja' troops were the most dangerous units in Kessen battles, only a few generals got to use them.

Kessen II scarred me for life, man... even though I loved it, the fact that Yu Jin was gayer than ten DW Zhang He's, Michael Jackson, and Richard Simmons frightened the living crap out of me (how can someone be so... GAY?!) and some of the generals were turned into women... that was wrong!
I haven't tried Kessen though... I will have... just please... no more Yu Jins!

The origonal Kessen was very much a serious strategy game, the cut scenes were beautiful though.

I haven't played the original Kessen, but I think it's good, despite my gaming conscience and Kessen II was also goos with costumes, but silly with homosexual Yu Jin and below average voice acting. Overall it's still good and I am going to wonder if Kou Shibuwasa (the creator) is a girl or a boy and decides to mess the game up.

I thought Kessen was great. It was a strategy game that actually let you formulate your own plans and not push you down a pre-determined route. Whereas in Kessen 2 you had to chose from 3 strategies (altough you could alter the plan slightly when in battle)

Play With Either Side: To gain the ability to play as either the Cao Cao or Lui Bei forces, simply finish the game. Then, at the main title screen, you will have the option to select either side when you choose New Game.
Select side: Successfully complete the game with Lui Bei and Cao Cao. Select "New Game" and you will be able to choose which side to be played.
Extra difficulty settings: Successfully complete the game with Liu Bei to the normal difficulty setting. Successfully complete the game with Cao Cao on the normal difficulty setting to unlock the expert difficulty setting.
How to Get Zhang Fei and Guan Yu 5 Special Moves: During the first battle, the Battle of Xu (on expert level), have Guan Yu defeat Li Dian and then go attack their storehouse, which is located just past the upcoming bridge. You get lots of experiance when you destroy their supplies. After you do that, have Liu Bei lose on purpose to Xiahou Yuan. Repeat this alternating Guan Yu and Zhang Fei back and forth, until you get too strong so you cannot lose, even if you try. (Note: When it is Zhang Fei's turn he defeats Yue Jin.)
Dynasty Warriors 4 reference: During the FMV sequence where the two men are talking amongst themselves about Cao Cao and Liu Bei, zhao yun is sitting there listening. Look behind him to catch a glimpse of the character Gan Ning from Dynasty Warriors 4 going to sit down. What makes this unique is that the Gan Ning in the game is totally different looking.
Hidden battles: Select either Liu Bei or Cao Cao, and successfully complete the game on the expert difficulty setting to unlock a hidden battle for each side. As Liu Bei, the hidden battle is The Battle of East Lau. As Cao Cao, the hidden battle is The Battle of Chang Zheng.

Thats a cool trailer I hadn't seen that one before - makes an interesting change from the normal clips of the games. Still not advisable for people to copy in the playground
