Heres one good tip, dont make a new edit character then attempt to play Empire mode with them, thinking you will have an easy time. Trust me you wont, and I am learning that the hard way today...

(Tell me about it - im still waiting for Xenosaga and suikoden 3 ) So what makes the game harder when using an edit character? Xenosaga 1?? That came out nearly two years ago here. Still havent seen the next one yet, the new Suikoden just hit the stores but I am too hip deep with Rainbow 6 Black Arrow and DW Empires right now, to be concerned with a long two disc rpg. You restart everyone in DW Empires no stats or weapons are loaded over. So a established officer would be better than a created new character to use. At least so far thats my view, I may discover more later, but I doubt I'm going to be able to finish a run through with this character.

Your created person, does he have a certain number of item slots? Because I think the type of warrior you chose determins other things than just how much you can carry etc. I'm still experiment ing with created characters though, and Sun Jian is giving me trouble right now too. The weapon just reahes level 10 from what I've heard and to get it level 11 I think you have to have a grand commander assigned. (all officers weapons go up one level when GC enters the field.)

my edit guy is a hero type.i was just playing versus mode and saw that my guy was slow so i tried empire mode in fiction mode and played with my edit person and he was very slow there too.he only has 1 item slot.and his jump is very low.sun jian right now has about 250,000 troops lol.

Theres a lession to be learned, dont take on someone at that size of an army till you can at least match him for strength and maybe affect his forces somehow by trickery. I made a princess female warrior and she's pretty fast, have six item spots too. But I made a puny little girl the size of Xiao Qiao and gave her Xu Zhu's weapon (called her "Ka Pow") and moves, she is very slow, but boy can she take the hits well.

if speed is your problem it might be the Stat type you picked, "Warrior" is what im currently useing and my Guy moves like the wind with Guan Yu's Weapon, Avenger seems to be the slowist that i tried so far

just make ur char a crusader, they have the highest starting stats. the limited accessory slots don't matter when u don't have any to equip

That must explain why my female princess model with average for type is nearly hitting orbit when I jump high, it must be affected by the choice of type. That makes 'average' pretty good in my book really.
