Who was the better strategist?

Since many people have different views of the many strategists of the 3 kingdoms era, I made this pole to see who thinks who is better and why.

I choose Lu Xun cuz he was very young when he beat the great Zhuge Liang at the Yi Ling River. It must have been very embarrasing for Liang to lose to teenager in a very important battle.

I do admit that Lu Xun got outsmarted a little bit cuz of the maze Liang made.

Plus, Lu Xun never beat Z.Liang at Yi Ling, for Z.L stayed at Cheng Du. Also L.X was not a teenager at the time. I'm not sure about his age at the time but it would've been about 30.

Anyhow, my vote is for Zhuge Liang. The best at strategy.

(You also missed out Sima Yi, Jiang Wei, etc from the vote?)

If anyone wants to vote for Sima Yi just vote for "Other". As for Jiang Wei, he doesn't count in my book. He may have had all of Zhuge Liang's knowledge but he never managed to use it in the right way. He was pretty much a failure near the end of Shu's life.

Sry for forgetting about Sima Yi. I knew I was forgetting someone from Wei. I'M A FAILURE!

I have heard from many different sources that Lu Xun did beat Liang and that he was very young at the time. Unless those sources were somehow drunk bums on the side of the street saying the world will end in 1 week.

Polls are always better with more options - around 7or8 choices would be more appropriate due to the number of strategists around at the time.

Lu Xun was given command of the Wu army even though he was in military terms young. This meant he was inexperienced in practical war situations. Generals and strategists were normally much older - around 50 when they were taken notice of. Even Sima Yi was not noticed until he was in his 30's.

Lu Xun beat Liu Bei - and although i like Lu Xun, Yi Ling was the fault of Liu Bei rather then the brilliance of Lu Xun.

Where is Chibichan when you need her? She would vote for Lu Xun cuz she likes him alot...........I think. Nonetheless, I stick with Lu Xun.

It says at the top, who was the better strategist, not who is your favourite strategist. Zhuge was the best in my view.

I was MIA... but I am back now.

As much as I myself like Lu Xun and prefer him over the toher strategists, I must say that Zhuge Liang -is- the better of the list that was put here. Lu Xun was more of a defensive player and was best at keeping peace within Wu rather than going out and conquering such (except is of course Jing Province).

But if it makes you feel better, I voted for Lu Xun anyways.

It would have been interesting to see how Lu Xun and Lu Meng would work as a team. They seemed to be a good partnership until Lu Meng died - with him still alive i would say Wu could have advanced further into Wei territory.

ummm excuse me but jiang wei beat zhuge liang be 4 he evn became his pupil. jiang wei finished built some of zhuge's inventions, too. ZHUGE LIANG GOT NO FURTHER THEN JIANG WEI DID WHILE INVADING WEI! so perhaps the problem lies in zhuge's knowledge rather than jiang wei's abilities. let's not 4get that zhuge had the 5 tigers to order around and carry out his plans. jiang wei did everything himself.
my vote is 4 jiang wei if this hasn't been made clear.

Well as much as I despise Zhuge Liang he proved himself to be the best stratagist out of all of them. However had Zhou Yu survived longer instead of dying before his time I think he would of been a big challenge to Wei and Shu.

Jiang Wei was indeed a strategist, so it would be unfair to not count him as one. No, he didn't get further than Zhuge Liang in conquering of Wei, but look at what he had to deal with! He had more to deal with than Zhuge Liang, especially not being trusted by Liu Chan.

Zhuge Liang had been with Shu ever since it began, Jiang Wei was part of Wei for some time, then was recruited. Think about it... if Zhuge Liang could not conquer Wei, then Liu Chan figured no one could, especially a man who was 'not as smart' and was formally of Wei, could do it.

Even though Jiang Wei wasn't 'as great' as Zhuge Liang, he's STILL a strategist!

Nah, getting some heat would be if we were using curse words and saying you're an idiot, this is more of a debate then a heated conversation. We, the ones who thought of Jiang Wei to be a strategist, thought it was unfair for someone to say he isn't, despite what he done for Shu.
