I'm not sure if this thread will go anywhere...but it seems people in this forum seem to have a favorite character or what not. For instance chibichan seems to love Lu Xun. Why do you like your historical character?

Zhuge liang just seemed so original to me...his name, his nickname, his calm all knowing attitude, his character, some of his deeds(eg.that borrowing arrows thing) and his simple yet ingenious ways. In everyway, different from the men around me. ;D

well i have many peeps i like, but the two i can't deny r zhao yun and jiang wei. i loved zhao yun's char from the start. in my mind he was the most noble and courageous char in the book. i could find no fault with him. plus i have a sentimental connection 2 him since i used gongsun zan the 1st time i played rot3k 2 waaayyy back in like 91 and zhao yun was in his force. my mean brother always used cao cao and jiang wei because i loved the way he enters the book. i thought no one would stop kongming and zilong, but here comes jiang wei. plus i luved his rivalry w/ deng ai and zhong hui. and i also felt simpathetic toward him cuz of liu shan, and how he tried his hardest, but in the end, failed
(copied from my 'who's ur fav char from the novel?' reply)

My favorite character of the book was Ma Chao. The pure talent he seemed to have added with his fearless nature appealed to me. I was attracted by his desperate fighting mood. I was dissapointed that he only appeared for a few chapters and that such a brilliant fighter ended up with a border guard duty. I guess I had an affinity towards characters who believe in what they are involved in and take action without regard to their own personal safety. The only downside I saw in Ma Chao was that he was not able to see past his battle instinct, however, perhaps that is what made him such an awe-inspiring warrior.
Others that impressed me through out the books were common names like Zilong, Xu Chu, and of course Zhuge Liang.

*flops in from 12+ hour drive from Orlando*
Okay, my response... I love Lu Xun, why? In the novel, though he wasn't really important until about the 3rd volume (to me; to the two volume sets I think he's important towards the second), but he appealed to me because...
A) He's anything but concieted (example, like Zhou Yu). He did not strive to be the best or better than anyone; he just did what his lord commanded him to do (which might be boring to some, but I found it a relief that there was at least ONE strategist that wasn't all 'I WANNA BE BETTER THAN ZHUGE LIANG! RAWR! ME BEST! ME GOD!'.
B) He helped bitchslap the God of War back into reality, which is a plus for me because I really hate 'godly' characters. I mean... really, really hate.
C) He also bitchslapped the so-called main character too, which I thought was pretty darn cool. History or not, I loved that part in the book. *tends to hate the main characters as well* Especially whiney boy Liu Bei.
and D) He helped keep Wu alive for quite awhile, even though they didn't win, they lasted the longest of the three kingdoms (he didn't do it alone, but he helped a lot).

i also love zhang ren. he's just so amazing. and i love how he sticks it to zhuge liang saying his reputation is fake. zhuge just got lucky i also like taishi ci, he was another amazing person. i hate that he is always short-changed just cuz he didn't do much in wu.

1) Liu Bei, the five tigers, Jiang Wei, Zhuge Liang and Pang Tong for obvious reasons apparent in the book. Yes, I know I am too stupid to realise this is what Luo GZ wants everyone to think. 2) Sima Yi and his clan, for just plain winning (or is that a reason to dislike them ) 3) Ma Teng 4) Zhang Xiu 5) Lu Su I'm not sure why I like these 3. Their characters just appeal to me. There are bound to be more -shame my memory is so bad.
